ITinyk Initial brand development

As part of my work during this September and early October I was working with IT support company, SE London, ItinyK. They required a creative, design mind with an open outlook to help them put together a rebrand scheme for their website. The brief was to change this perception of IT companies from clinical, organised, inhumane, technical and unapproachable, to different, human, relatable, friendly and understandable. For many, IT is another language but to ItinyK it is their mother tongue and (from personal experience) the team are the most fun, quirky, personable pair I have ever come across in this industry. Thus their website deserves to describe them with justice (albeit very hard until you meet them!). They are wonderful people, with awesome South African accents and a shed load of energy.

Here are some initial impressions I created using a logo I designed and prototypes of their home page new look. I wanted to revive the grey, white and light blue previous scheme to a give a more lively, dynamic aura- I think sunshine yellow helps with this. (although, after some time and upon self reflection, I think I used it in a too obvious, direct and unintelligent way. With more of a strategy or concise palette and underlying consistent idea, I could achieve a similar message but with less IN YOUR FACE POW)

However I really like loose, linear graphics and personifying the computer, over the old, static Mac computer image, which was too literal and generic. This added some personality and creativity, mimicking the ethic of the company. Graphics pens are the don at this and you can achieve a range of effects and qualities of line using them, so I always jump to this technique when it fits within the scope of a proposal.

Perhaps it was too cliche or too estranged and different in the arrangement and choice of text, albeit verrryy different from their original website. Looking at it now, a month down the line, it probably needs to try less hard and be proud of who it is, in a more subtle way and by means of communication in less bold ways, with a little more synthesized direction through all elements (text use, colour, graphics, photography if any). We decided after a group meeting, imagery would be ideal as it offers a whole new visual package of information for viewers...but not the usual cringey, head shot pictures, oh no....the new shoot will be fabulous and ideas for this shoot flung around our meeting like no tomorrow. STAY TUNED.

The below shots vary slightly in arrangement, colour and scale of the visuals:
