First Life Drawing Sesh

Starting my final university year life drawing module, I created this piece focusing on the shadows I could see on the form in front of me. Using a blue felt tip, I controlled the gradients by the amount of shading I included on different parts of the body. I chose a mark and stuck to it throughout- this time a diagonal scribble. It somewhat resembles an infographic, due to the legend at the side showing the different range of shading available within the piece's entirety. I quite like it, it's unusual, and doesn't employ line (not in a positive way anyway)! Out of the comfort zone in my first session.
Second entry from the session includes this one composed of dots. It was VERY time consuming, but also therapeutic. I decided to employ another unconventional drawing mark to create form this time, but first outlining the main shapes for a cheat. This way of drawing people is actually rather engaging as it requires you to really concentrate on the detail and look closely at your subject. If you have plenty of time do it, if you want to create quick sketches don't. This method is particularly complimentary to faces and zoomed in areas of detail...I am not sure how easy/ attractive the turn out would be for a full body scene.
