BTW, I'm doing good (if anyone actually comes back here often enough to care) and even better after my recent visit to Dalston gem, Molly Bakes. I'm very much aware I'm hopping on a trend here, but F it! I had a great time eating my daily calorie intake in one sitting here. This isn't for the faint hearted...you WILL feel either extremely satisfied (like myself) or sick, in need of a lie down (man up).
Molly Bakes is a slender red and black cafe in the heart of edgy London's Dalston, North London. Hop off at Dalston Junction (near Balls Pond Road, tee hee), take a mini walk along Kingsland Road and you've made it to sugar town! Go earlier rather than later on a weekend, YOU WILL HAVE TO QUEUE, especially after I've written this blog post, causing the whole of England to flock there...cough...tumbleweed... Only kidding, but in all seriousness, my friend and I got down there about 2pm a few weekends ago and by luck, got the last couple table. By contrast, my friend went this Saturday, April 30th and had an hour plus wait at about 5pm. It is STILL worth it!
SO in short (because I'll let the pics do the talkin'), Molly does bake everything, from mini Oreo cupcakes, to triple tiered red velvet cake. Their best-seller (when we arrived) were FreakShakes – MUCH more than a milkshake – and come in 4 flavours, for now:
-Peanut butter (my first choice in anything!)
-Chocolate
-Raspberry
-Caramel
They're packed full of beautifully rich ice cream complete with vanilla pods, crispy decorative balls, either a cookie or brownie on top (your choice), a soft, token marshmallow flambé on top of that, spoonfuls of your flavour (e.g. peanut butter, Nutella etc) smeared inside and around the rim of your glass jar and lots of sweet caramel (or raspberry or chocolate) drizzle, MMM.
It's an art; appreciate it, smell it, capture it, Snapchat it millennials and talk about it...then go back in a month to try another flavour!
ENJOY (DROOLING).
And here's how Baileys got freaky, very brilliantly in time of the trend and just before any other brand did. Talk about reactive social content!? Gosh watch how a Baileys FreakShake is made...
