As part of 'Pop Up Britain' with a 'Pocket London' place in the 387 King's Road, Chelsea store this 15th-28th August, I was fortunate enough to meet a variety of new brands that all have the same surging ambition and potential, each offering a product intriguingly individual. One especially to note, was 'Newtrition,' who sprawled their enticingly delicious and (very) nutritious edible products around the in-store Lexie Sport launch party, Thursday evening.
Newtrition are a healthy baked foods company founded by Sunita Patel in Leicester that have done exceedingly well since their 2012 birth. Their USP is all about giving back some goodness to the body it rightfully deserves, and from a personal perspective, changing that notorious scepticism about 'treat foods,' with guilt-free indulging.
Take the well-loved muffin for example; everyone's a bit scared of these little devils when trying to eat well or watching their weight, but actually Newtrition do some wonders in the kitchen. They created 'The Ugly Muffin,' which endorses the slogan 'it's what is on the inside that counts,' and rightfully so! I don't even think they're ugly...baked goods get me as soon as I smell 'em! They were extremely moist with a springy, spongey texture, which is so refreshing from some of those bum-out stale ones you get from time to time...I could see all the goodness of the ingredients pebbled around every spare bit of muffin space, as I was progressing through the snack. There was an abundance of raisons and dried fruits, with undertones of cinnamon and fragrant spices. They really are delightful and give you bags of energy after- pretty versatile for people on the move, who want to take care of their bodies, but don't want to compromise on flavour and eating experience.
I could see myself snacking away on them as my 'I'm in a rush to leave the house' breakkie alternative, right to satisfying my afternoon sweet-tooth cravings. They come in cute, brown, rustic cases and are great fillers that will see you through for a few hours! Normally muffins give me an instant hit and soon enough I want some more sugar. What is more, they contain no added margarine, oil or butter. They are high in fibre with GI and free from refined sugar. It's a new type of muffin, but nonetheless remains delicious AND I felt happy for my insides post consumption!
PRODUCT #2: Grummy Granola
PRODUCT #2: Grummy Granola
Now it's no secret I am a granola, muesli fan. I mean it's everyday for me, with yoghurt or milk, or sometimes both! When I tried the Grummy Granola I was in love! It had so many different ingredients of nice equal quantities- none of the tight stuff in some generic supermarket brands, where you get 90% oat and no juicy fruit. Not value for money. (Sad face) This was so tasty, containing plentiful seed varieties an assortment of dried fruits and that fragrant, sweet cinnamon scent again. The special thing about this granola is its texture and the added binding it had. I noticed before I added my yoghurt, it had a honey-like, sticky coating. None of that dry stuff that gives you jaw ache after several bites. This was softer to chew, flavoursome and diverse. Every mouthful was as indulgent as the last, but again, it's full of awesomeness, including wholegrains and slow baked in three stages for yummy texture. Grummy Granola is also free from refined sugar full of organic nuts, dried fruit and seeds.
Newtrition= Happy bodies!
