5star rap. Usually I am not 100percent convinced by rap- the genre has a lot to be desired for in terms of variation throughout the track, and i do love me some audible variety. HOWEVER, this track is so slick and steady and satisfying it doesn’t matter. Its got that that authentic twinkle trill sounding intermittently amongst the deep rap vocals. The contrast of pitch hierarchies creates a nice range and therefore fuller listening experience. Overall it’s classic and rich, like a good chocolate pie. ‘We Get High’ rides on a slow, persuasive, bouncing beat that sucks you in and pushes you out. It’s f*cking nice to be honest. I realise I haven’t reviewed the lyrical components yet, which is obviously a big part of rap music, but I usually get too absorbed by the overall picture that I don’t zone in on the words until a good way down the line when rap listenin’.
