Just before leaving Kumasi- the place we travelled 4 hours to, more North of Ghana for a few days to see where dad grew up- the owner of the hotel complex we stayed at, Kofi, asked if this year I would design his swimming pool addition to his hotel.
He has extra surrounding land to the photos I have just previously published and so I am going to get started next month (May 2013). WHooppeee! How exciting. It is good I have had some formal design and building experience of the South Africa, Project Limpopo 2010-11, whilst this task will enable me to be a bit more liberated in conceptual design, as opposed to creating a fully functioning building.
++NB to self: climate, surrounding amenities and site facilities, local/sustainable/readily available construction materials, sun path and solar trends (making use of light, heat and quality of space), space per person allowance in the water for pool sizing, mirroring scheme of nearby hotel complex for consistency, colour, symbolic shape use and integration into site?, swimming/bar/entertainment/hiring facilities on site.
